Who we are
WasteSpeed is operated by Jon Blades t/a WasteSpeed, Faringdon, Oxfordshire, part of the PianoSpeed group of transport and logistics businesses. Contact: [email protected].
Bookings
A booking is confirmed when your online payment completes; you then receive our confirmation email with a reference. Collections happen on your postcode area's fixed route day. We confirm an arrival window the day before. You can change your date free of charge, or cancel for a full refund, up to 6pm the evening before your collection by replying to your confirmation email. Refunds go back to the card you paid with, normally within 5 to 10 working days.
Prices and payment
Published prices include the two person crew, loading, transport, disposal fees and VAT. Two possible additions, both agreed before loading: £20 per flight of stairs where no working lift exists, and a hygiene surcharge for heavily soiled items, agreed with you first. Payment is taken securely online (Stripe) at the time of booking and is what confirms it; every visit has a £199 minimum charge. Load sizes are confirmed with you on arrival before loading begins: if the load is smaller than paid for we refund the difference, if it is larger the crew agrees the difference with you before loading.
What we carry
We collect household and business waste that two people can safely carry, as described on the services pages. The safe limit is 75kg per item: that is a weight limit on any single object we are asked to lift, not on the load, and the van load sizes we sell are far heavier in total. It covers virtually all furniture, mattresses and domestic appliances. A single object heavier than 75kg, such as a safe, a full size American fridge freezer or a multigym, needs specialist equipment and must be agreed with us in advance from photographs; if one appears on the day that we were not told about, the crew may have to leave it, and we will refund that item's share rather than attempt an unsafe lift. Pianos are the exception and are booked as the piano line, handled by the group's piano crew with proper kit.
We cannot carry asbestos, tyres, liquid paints, oils, fuels or chemicals, gas bottles, clinical waste, or plasterboard in quantity; we will point you to licensed specialists for these. Anything hazardous discovered in a load may be left with you or handled via a specialist route at cost, agreed with you first.
Your responsibilities
Please ensure items are yours to dispose of, accessible at the agreed address, and that anything you have told us about access is accurate. When you book you describe the items in your own words; please make that description accurate, because the crew plans the van, the kit and the route slot from it, and a load materially bigger or heavier than described may be re-quoted before loading. Someone over 18 must be present for indoor collections unless we have agreed key or code access in writing.
Keep the goods clean and dry before collection. Please store everything under cover until we arrive. Dry goods can be sent for reuse, which is where we try to send everything first; soaked, mouldy or soiled goods cannot be reused and cost more to dispose of, and heavily soiled items are the only thing that attracts the hygiene surcharge described above, always agreed with you first. Fridges and freezers should be emptied and ideally defrosted; appliances disconnected from mains and water.
Our responsibilities
We handle everything we collect under waste duty of care rules, sort loads for reuse and recycling as described in our recycling promise, and provide photo confirmation of completed jobs. Commercial customers receive a waste transfer note for every collection. We carry public liability insurance; any damage caused by our crew must be reported within 48 hours and will be handled fairly and quickly.
When things go wrong
If we miss a confirmed collection for a reason within our control we rebook you first on the next route day or refund you in full, your choice. Route days can very occasionally shift for weather, breakdowns or road closures; we tell you as soon as we know. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
The legal bits
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If any clause turns out to be unenforceable the rest still stand. We may update these terms; the version on this page at the time of your booking applies to it.
